Matthew 7:26-27
(26) And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: (27) And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

Things To Look For In A Church, Part 5 - Priesthood of the Believer

Are you saved? If you are, did you know that you are a part of a royal priesthood? A Priest is one who is authorized to perform the sacred rites of a religion, especially as a mediator agent between humans and God. Under the Law of Moses, priests were required to offer the sacrifice on behalf of the Old Testament saint. A priest was also the only one who could enter into the 'Holy Place' in the Tabernacle or temple. Today, we commonly see priests in the Catholic church. People confess their sins and their requests to the priest and this priest supposedly delivers them to God. However, when the Holy Spirit of God dwells within the believer, why do we need to confess our sins to someone else? God already knows about them. Every believer today is a priest of God and may enter into His presence in prayer directly through our Great High Priest Jesus Christ. No other mediator is needed between God and people. As priests, we can study God's Word, pray for others and offer spiritual worship to God. We all have equal access to God whether we are a preacher or not.
1Pe 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.
By contrast, many of the other false religions require you to go through some priest. This is not Biblical. This is a ploy designed to keep the individual believer away from true worship. The so-called priests maintain a control over the church member and dole out only what they want the church member to know. Effectively, these so-called priests insulate their followers from the Bible and from the truth of the Word of God.
